Gucci is your favourite brand right now, and there’s no mistaking why.
The label have had a resurgence since 2015 with collections being exceptionally on point and boasting an array of eye popping colour and craftsmanship. After taking on the role of Creative Director at the Italian label, Alessandro Michele has taken it to a new generation of loyal followers, and it’s not hard to see why.
In an interview with Vogue Magazine journalist Hamish Bowles, he spoke of his visions and tastes for the future. “I don’t like a fashion show where you have only two prints—it drives me crazy. I’d rather a woman spend five hours choosing a coat or a shirt—I prefer that they have the choice, like in a toy store!” And it adequately surmises the direction of Gucci since Alessandro took the helm in early 2015.
Aptly named “The Alessandro Effect”, the label posted more than just satisfaction from the fashion crowd in 2015. IT reported a revenue increase of almost 12 per cent, and sales in European Stores over 13 per cent. The classic Italian glamour infused with a retro edge have gelled positively with buyers and brought a freshness to Gucci again.
In the words of the man himself, “Fashion is about creating emotion—it’s not necessarily rational.”
