Welshman Luke Rowe (SKY) has soloed his way to victory on the third stage of the Herald Sun Tour in Beechworth. After launching a break earlier in the day, Rowe stay ed away from the field in what was to become an emphatic victory after a mammoth effort.
The Sky rider finished 33 seconds ahead of Conor Dunne (Aqua Blue) and 56 in front of a trio of riders spearheaded by Tanner Putt (UHC). Rowe launched a solo escapade from the break on the final climb of the day and rode alone to the finish line, with overall leader Damien Howson (Orica-Scott) puncturing 500 metres up the climb.
General classification times remain unchanged with Howson retaining his lead going into day four. Chris Froome (SKY) dropped from fifth to sixth on the GC with Cameron Meyer (AUS) climbing into fourth overall.
