Two of Australia’s favourite designers for a go-to night out ensemble or an outfit for a black-tie function, Alice McCall and Dion Lee, walked the New York Fashion week runways earlier in the week to a resounding success from models, influencers and fashion critics alike.
Alice McCall, who debuted her first collection at NYFW, said she was feeling explorative of the collection that explored transparent fabrics adorned with fringing and featured floral printing. With a colour palate of pastel tones and floral motifs, the collection also featured colour blocked blazers, trousers and skirting. Opulent accessorising included ivory lace thigh high boots and leather flecks through jumpsuits and shoes emphasised an underlying edge to the collection.
Dion Lee showcased his Autumn Winter collection which included his statement intricate detailing and acute work as a designer. The collection centred on garments that accentuated curves through the female figure in dresses revealing structured busts, fishnet silhouettes and deconstructed skirting. The collection remains true to the aesthetic Dion Lee has become rewound for through its continuance of muted colour tones dominated by blacks, whites, greys with hints of a vibrant colour duo.
